Ozark named the most patriotic city in Alabama

OZARK, Ala. (WDHN) —Ozark has recently won the reputation of being one of the most patriotic cities in the nation, according to Insurify.

The insurance company made the decision based on which city had the number of their clients who served in the military out of the 1.6 million applicants found in its database, picking one city per state.

According to the researchers, Ozark won the distinction of being Alabama’s most patriotic city.

“Joining the military is one of the most profound ways that a citizen can demonstrate their love for our country,” said Snejina Zacharia, CEO of Insurify. “This award is a token of recognition for the communities whose residents offer both sacrifice and commitment in service of their nation.”

Mayor Bob Bunting, a Vietnam war veteran with 30 years of service under his belt, was happy to hear the news but said he wasn’t surprised at all since Ozark is so close to Fort Rucker.

He explained that the city has organizations serve veterans and even has half of a cemetery dedicated to veterans who passed away.

“I couldn’t ask to be mayor of a town more dedicated to the military,” Bunting said.

Next week, Ozark will hold a Memorial Day ceremony at the Woodlawn Cemetery Monday.
