NEW OZARK AIRPORT TERMINAL OPENS
The project, that has been ten years in the making, is said to be the start of a new chapter in the city’s economic development.
“It definitely shows the progression the city is taking, and the interest they are taking in the aviation and the airport, it gives us a great welcoming opportunity for the flying public, and any of the traveling public on 231,” said Director of Aviation Services, Stephanie Blankenship.
During the ceremony, Blankenship fought back tears as she saw the vision she and countless others worked so hard on, finally come to life.
“I feel very humbled at the amount of support we had show-up for our event today, and it’s a little bit of relief that this part is over with,” said Blankenship.
Pilots and visitors from all over the Wiregrass and State were given a chance to tour the new 3900 square foot terminal.
“It’s outstanding. Up to date, the technology in the building is just phenomenal, it’s definitely an asset to the city of Ozark,” said President, of Ozark Friends of Army Aviation, Doc Holladay.
Described as the new front door to the community, the terminal is anticipated to bring new traffic, opportunities, and businesses to the city of Ozark.
Officials at the Airport are negotiating a fuel supplier at the terminal. A contract is currently being negotiated with Shell Aviation, and should be implemented in the next coming months.
Public helicopter rides and other events are also currently being planned at the airport.
