Zaxby's Plans to Open New Restaurant in Ozark

OZARK, Ala (March 5, 2014) - Zaxby's will bring their popular fast-casual restaurant to Ozark in 2014. Zaxby's will locate at 1622 South US Highway 231 in the building currently occupied by Arby's and plans to be open in early summer. Arby's will be reopening inside the Love's Travel Stop once it is constructed.

Zaxby's licensees Steven Stembridge, Scott Roberts, and Nick Carter will own and operate the Ozark Zaxby's franchise and they plan to begin extensive renovations on the Arby's building beginning later in March and opening by early summer. Steven Stembridge, licensee for Zaxby's, is excited about opening a new Zaxby's in Ozark. "We look forward to opening a successful Zaxby's restaurant in Ozark and being part of this growing business community. We will perform a top-notch renovation to the existing building. I want to thank the City of Ozark and the Ozark-Dale County Economic Development Corporation (ODEC) as they worked tirelessly to assist us in identifying a location on Highway 231 for our restaurant," said Stembridge.

Ozark Mayor Billy Blackwell commented, "I want to thank the Ozark City Council, the Zaxby's licensees, Love's Travel Strops and Arby's for making this happen. I also want to thank ODEC Executive Director Eric Basinger for his tireless efforts to make this project a reality. Zaxby's is one of the most popular restaurants in the country and we are excited for the opportunity to make them a part of Ozark. Many of our residents have wanted new dining opportunities so I think Zaxby's will be opening at a perfect time."

The Ozark-Dale County Economic Development Corporation (ODEC) assisted Zaxby's by identifying available sites and landowner contacts that met Zaxby's corporate guidelines. ODEC also introduced the Zaxby's licensees to both the Arby's licensee and to Love's Travel Stops when it was identified that they had compatible needs for real estate in the Ozark market. ODEC Executive Director Eric Basinger said, "We had a great team working on this deal for the City of Ozark. I want to thank Mayor Billy Blackwell and the Ozark City Council for their efforts to help Zaxby's to locate in Ozark. I also want to thank Love's Travel Stops and Country Stores and First Ozark Realty for their hard work on this project. "

The plan is for construction to begin at 168 Campus Drive, Ozark, in 2014 and for the new Love’s to be open by the end of the year.

“The City of Ozark has taken an aggressive approach to bringing new jobs and investment to the City of Ozark and Love’s is an exciting result of our efforts and dedication to our goal of increased quality economic development in Ozark,” said Ozark Mayor Billy Blackwell.  “We are honored to welcome Love’s as a new business member of our great city.”

“This Love’s location marks the first Love’s in Alabama that will be constructed off of the interstate and will further strengthen Ozark and Dale County’s position as a preferred route to visit the popular coastal travel destinations to the south of the area which is an important part of our economic success model,” Basinger said.  The Ozark-Dale Economic Development Corporation initially reached out to Love’s and has worked closely with the City of Ozark to secure the investment for the area.
