The Ozark City School system recently received two accreditations. The first was the regular AdvancEd accreditation that is received by school systems that meet all of the required standards identified by AdvancEd. It verifies that the standards are being met and identifies the system as a quality educational institution.

The second accreditation is new to AdvancED. It is for STEM (Science, Technology, engineering, and Mathematics). The new certification is currently being piloted by AdvancEd and Carroll High School is the first school in Alabama to receive the recognition and only the 9th school in the country to be so recognized. It is a tremendous honor for the high school and speaks well for the staff and the students.

When asked what this recognition means to CHS, “ I likened it to possibly a booster rocket on a spaceship. We knew we had some good things going on at the high school, but this should result in simply propelling the school and the programs into high gear. We are very proud of what the high school has accomplished and what this recognition will mean to our students, our programs, and our recruiting capabilities”, said Rick Mcinturf Superintendent.
